The Seward County Community College Nursing Department will host a conference on “Medical Errors/Documentation & Assessment/Management of Respiratory Disease, April 23-24 in SW229 C/D of the Student Activities Center on the SCCC campus. Speakers for the conference are Terry Siek, chief nursing officer, Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kan., and Karen Hawes, internal medicine associates, Manhattan, Kansas. The conference will cover clear and concise documentation, legal ramifications of documentation and medical errors; changes in antibiotic use; alternate treatments to antibiotics; symptoms of influenza and pneumonia; high-risk populations; relationships between Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and tobacco use; symptoms of out-of-control asthma; and vaccinations for high risk populations.
