The Seward County
Community College/Area Technical School English and Visual Arts Programs
recently received notification of two additional awards that the 2008
“Telolith”received from the Columbia
Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) from Columbia University, New York.
Last fall “Telolith”received a Gold Medalist Certificate,
the first-place award. The two additional awards are in the areas of graphic
design. SCCC/ATS Visual Arts Program graphic design students design and lay out
“Telolith”each year as a class
project. The 2008 staff received a Certificate of Merit for multi-page design
of a literary/art magazine for the two-page spread featuring a photograph by
Doug Wehmeier and the story “Imaginary Line”
by JoLynn Earnest. California State University took first in that category.
“Telolith” also received a a second-place certificate in Typography for use of
a designed or art headline.
The college recently
unveiled its 2009 “Telolith”magazine.
Magazines are critiqued
by a panel of judges, who note strengths along with suggestions for improvement
in the areas of literary and artistic content, as well as graphic design.
